CLOSET INSPIRATIONS

Hi all, I have very busy lately. I recently moved and now I'm organizing my closet. My new closet is semi customized but for a shoe addict like moi, I need to add my own touch :). I was so excited when I saw my closet the 1st time, it's one of my favorite place in the house. I see it as my woman cave, it's big enough for all my clothes and I could even put a chaise or bench in there. I'm sure I'll spend a lot of time in there to get inspired, to meditate and to relieve some stress. Seriously hanging out in my closet is like therapy for me. I just love seeing my shoes/bags and clothes nicely displayed.
So I've been searching online for inspirations but how can I forget about Carrie's closet in SATC 2 ??? It's definitely my favorite, I mean it's GORGEOUS. I love the idea of a long closet, bench in the middle and the nicely hang clothes w/shoe rack and cubbies not to forget a chandelier. Boy where do I stop? The key is to keep everything organized from boots, pumps, clutches, handbags, dresses, pant/skirts, sweaters, jeans, jackets, I can go on... I don't think that I could replicate her closet now but I could organize my shoes, clothes and bags just like her :). CHRISTMAS WISH LIST PART 1

Hi guys, I've been MIA but I'm back now.
It's that time of the year when we love to receive and give wonderful presents. We all have that wish list and some are just what it's called "wish" and some are more realistic. I'm listing mine below and we'll see if Santa will be good to me as usual, 1 or 2 will be just fine :).

I've talked about 1 of my favorite store SKIN before and I'm so hooked on their soft pima cotton robe/cardigan wraps and other stuff. They are great and luckily my MIL gave me a gift card for my B-day and that gave me a good excuse to visit. See below:

Hey all, how are you? I've been doing well and staying away from the ongoing sample sales in the NYC for the most part. There's a lot of sales around the holidays season. However, I stopped at the Lovely people sale since I've scored every time I've gone there plus I'm a sample size. I got 2 pairs of shoes for $40, can you believe it??? the flat sandal booties were $30 and the black wedge sandals were $10 (extra discount for missing lace) WHAT A DEAL!!! I walked out content, see below:

Hi followers,

I'm getting ready to go back to work and can't wait to put my hands on my Fall wardrobe. I've been home for almost 3 months now on maternity leave and haven't felt "fabulous" in a while. I don't get the opportunity to dress up much but when I take Anya to the doctor or going to my One on One class @ Apple. I'm sad already to leave her but I'm a little excited to get back into playing dress up. Talking about dress up, Anya Grace is also fabulous with her cute smile but I won't brake the bank on getting her designer outfits like a lot of people have assumed. She is young and grows fast, right now she wears a lot of hand me downs and gifted clothes, and I really haven't bought her that much. We're being smart about not spending $ on things that she'll outgrow but starting her college fund. With that said let's get back to me :).

Ever since I've had my baby I've been thinking about reorganizing my wardrobe and maybe start to look like a mom but of course a stylish one. I'm planning on doing a major clean up by donating and consigning a lot of stuff. I have plenty of things that I haven't worn in years and I don't need to hold on to them if they're not "classic"; the best time to do this is when I'm switching clothes between the seasons. So I'm definitely looking forward to do the switch from Summer to Fall (haven't yet, being lazy).

Confession, I secretly have been building my Fall must haves and below is what I have so far and what I'm expecting in the mail haha!!! I can't wait to put them together and play again!!!!!!

BABY ANYA GRACE IS HERE!!!

Hi guys, I'm back and I'm a mother of a beautiful baby girl name Anya. She was born on Monday August 9th. That was such a surprise, I really thought it was a boy but I'm so in love w/her that it doesn't matter now. She's healthy and perfect and cute. Giving birth was overall a good experience, it was not fun but it's definitely worthed. It's funny how in 1 week my life has already changed, she's my boss and I go by her schedule and feed her whenever she's hungry. I'm breastfeeding her and the 1st couple of days were a challenge, now it's much easier, all you need is patience.

Hi guys, just some updates that I'm having minor contractions and that means baby is around the corner. I'm beyond excitement and I can't stop checking my bags to make sure I have everything. Well I went and got a new mani since my nails were growing and this time I picked a nice neutral color from Essie called "Mambo"

It looks nice on but I think it'll look even nicer in the fall since its a darker nude. For my pedi I used "Hey Vito is my car red-y"

Hi followers, there's no updates yet on baby. It seems to be very comfy in there and not ready just yet to come out. I was very impatient and upset last week because I thought the baby was late and I was just tired of waiting. The phone calls and texts wouldn't stop coming, but it's my fault because I was given a range from July 29th to August 7th by my Dr. The anticipation and excitement of meeting your child for the 1st time is unexplainable, especially when you don't know the sex. The good news is the baby is healthy and not stressed, therefore I'm content and thankful.

Tomorrow I'm planning on posting some old pregnancy pics and hopefully next week I'll have new pics.

I'M BACK!!!

Hi followers, I'm finally back w/some pics from my shower. Things have been crazy lately, getting ready for baby, exhaustion, heat, buying a new car, new laptop... I can't believe my baby is due soon, I'm actually nesting now, getting the house ready for the little one, washing all the clothes, organizing my bags. Well I'm still feeling fine, staying active but I had to slow down on the daily walk w.this heat wave. I've gained 19 pds so far and I don't think it's going to be much higher then that (crossing fingers). I could however say that my body is slowing down, I walk slower and after maybe an hour or 2 of shopping or whatever I have to take a break. It's not as easy to sleep through the night anymore since I have to get up quite often to use the bathroom.
Anyway, pls. see some pics of my shower below and I should be able to post more later this week when I get my external drive from my old computer. BTW, I got the Mac book and an Ipod touch and I'm so excited, it'll take time to learn and be comfortable with them but I'm happy with my choices.

Sorry I can't post pics until later since I still don't have a computer. Regarding my laptop, I found out that my motherboard is broken, therefore I have to get new one. The crazy thing is my laptop is only 2 yrs old so i'm really upset, i'm now thinking of getting an Apple since I heard they're more reliable. We'll see.

Hey all,

I've been thinking about getting some Toms, not only because they are cute and seemed comfy but also because of the cause. For every purchased pair they give one pair of shoes to a child in need, that's awesome and great reason to buy. Now that I'm preggers, comfort is necessary and specially to walk around the city so I bought the Burlaps and they super cool. The color is neutral so they go w. lots of my outfits which I will post soon. They are indeed very comfy and I'm hooked. I'm now thinking of getting another pair but I'm not sure which color to pick. I was also looking at the kids ones, since I wear kids sz sneakers (all my converses are kids :).

HENNA GLOSS

Hi all,

I've done Henna in the past and I can say, it's not a fun process. There's the mess, the wait, the smell but of course the good end result (good treatment). I guess I like the end result, I definitely had less breakage but I can't say that I enjoyed the long process. Therefore I stopped doing it until recently when I found out about the Henna gloss. It's basically mixing henna w/conditioner and applying it on dry or wet hair. The huge relief for me is that I don't have to wash my hair before the application, that's major because I didn't enjoy washing my hair twice in day. Therefore I researched many henna gloss on you tube and saw that you can apply the gloss on dry hair and only have to leave it on for 2hr or more. I was so excited that I decided to try it. I mixed my henna and left it overnight (1 1/2 bag Jamila, 1 1/2 cup of black tea, 1 1/2 cup of conditioner). This morning I applied it and left it for 2 hours.

End results. Nope didn't cut my hair, I just lose the length when it's curly. That was a wash and go :).

NEW BAG FROM ROO'S POOCH

Hey followers, I was looking for nude bag to match these killer sandals from Loefller Randall that I got about 2 months ago @ Neimans. I know nudes are in and the sandals are so comfy that I was determined to keep them and find a matching bag. I'm not into the matchy matchy thing but it doesn't hurt to have nude accesories. So my search ended when I entered into Roos' pooch (a little boutique in the burbs I like) and saw this beautiful, buttery pinky nude leather bag. However, I was thinking that maybe it was too pink for the sandals and tried to match them mentally. It was hard but I decided to just get the bag, it was on sale and was the last one left!!! I couldn't stop smelling the fresh new leather, I LOVE that smell. So I hurried home to compare my prizes and guess what??? they are a great match!!! I would say about 90%, take a look and you be the judge.

7 MONTHS AND COUNTING

Hi followers, I'm 7 months pregnant and my belly is growing, moving and rounder as ever. I'm feeling great most importantly, no pressure, pain yet. I'm still walking a lot everyday and eating right but I get nervous @ every doctor's visit when I get weighed, but so far so good. Since my hubby and I don't know the sex of the baby, people are doing the guessing game; I'm getting a lot of boy guesses and not many girl's. What I'm hoping for is a healthy, chunky baby, yes I love them fat and chunky :).

I know I haven't posted a lot lately specially recent pics since I'm so backed up. I've decided to start fresh and start posting mostly current pics and maybe some old w/cool outfits (w.my belly).

Hey all,

Thanks for your patience. I'm back from California and it was awesome. Mon mari and I visited Monterey, Carmel and San fransisco, and my favorite was Carmel. It's quaint, cute little town w/lots of boutiques, beautiful houses. We had a great time and someone recommended we have dinner @ Clint Eastwood's restaurant The "Mission ranch", we went and surprisingly he was there. Not only the food was delicieux and the view phenomenal but Clint was there. What a surprise!!! I think he looks better in person. Anyway, the last stop was San fran, it was cool but to me it's like NYC w/hills. Nothing special, but I did enjoy the cable car rides and also the "Water bar" restaurant. I would recommmend that place to anyone, the crab egg drop soup was very good. As a whole we ate enough dungeoness crabs to satisfy my cravings for a while. I will post some pics soon.

They are back!!!, I don't really think they went anywhere, I bought a pair about 6 yrs ago from Earl jeans and I've been rocking them every Fall/winter. GRANDMA TWIST BUNS

Hey followers, It's hair time. I play with my hair style once in a while by switching the style from naturally curly to straight in the Winter/fall. On a few occasions so far I've worn my hair on a high bun and it's totally grandma-ish. However, I've been getting a lot of great feedbacks and I'm liking it. The last time I did it it was not intentional, I twisted my hair on a high bun and put a cap on just for my commute to work and was planning on letting it down once I got to there. Well my coworkers loved the bun so I kept it. It actually goes w/some of my outfits and it's so easy, just pull all your hair on top of your head but really as close to your forehead as possible then twist and pin, voila. See below.

SOMEONE IS PREGGERS!!!

Hey followers, guess who's pregnant??? Me!!!. I've been shy about announcing it but since now I'm showing, I'm ready to share the goods news. Mon mari and I are so excited and can't wait to meet the little one. We decided not to find out the sex, I gotta say it was really my decision. Well I'm old fashioned and don't mind the wait; I could buy stuff in neutral colors and manage. Ever since we found out, I went to the library and got so many pregancy books, right now I'm reading "What to expect when you're you're expecting", it's very popular amongs pregant women and I do like it. I'm also using their agenda to keep track of my pregnancy and the changes that come with it.

I am now on my 5th month and feeling great, it has been really easy for me and I'm hoping that it says like so. The only thing is, the minute I arrive home from work I tend to fall asleep (lack of posts...). I have been so sleepy and lazy (specially on my 1st trimester) it was very bizarre. Cravings, not really but I do like cheese more then usual and I've had 3 whoppers (BK) so far and it's hilarious. I could still fit in some of my low rise jeans but have bought the Belly band to wear over them. I don't think I'll be buying much of maternity clothes, I've been wearing wrap around cardis, grandpa cardis, boyfriend button downs, leggins, skinnies. Pretty much everything that I've worn before.
Prenatals vitamins sucks, they are ginormous, so my doctor suggested that I take 2 flinstones and extra folic acid a day, that works very well. I haven't noticed a different w. my skin nor hair and nails but I've been told that I have that glow :).

It's so funny because I didn't start showing until late in 4 months and ever since my belly has been growing. Well I will try to keep you all updated as I go, sharing my lately outfits w/ a belly.

FUR VEST

How do you feel about fur? Personally, I don't mind wearing fur only if it's vintage. By the time I wear it, the animal wouldn't be alive or else fake fur is another alternative. This year fake fur/real fur has been everywhere in magazines, on the streets, TV etc....I really like the fur vest look or fur bomber jacket w/ a pencil skirt. Furs are classic in anyways, collar, jacket, shawl; if you own one you should really preserve it the correct way so that you could have it forever.

I went to a party a couple weeks ago and wore a polka dot ruffled dress that I got last summer. I paired it w/bronze vtg belt w/peep toe platform and opake tights. Polka dots are classic and could be so much fun, just wear it w/right accessories and you're ready to go. It was freezing that night, see pics below.

Hi followers, how do you feel about OTK boots or thigh high boots? Well to me, depending on how you wear it and your body type it could be chic. I love OTK boots with and oversized button down shirt & leggings or skinnies. It's overly sexy so wear a looser top and keep the butt covered, that's the key not to look like a hooker... I also like to pair it w. a long cardi or wrap around sweater. I own 3 pairs: 2 flat riding ones and 1 thigh high heels. Below is the black riding one w/ silver buckle details.

Pumpkin Soup (soup giraumon)

Hi guys, this post is about a cooking recipe. Today, I've decide to make something that I haven't dared to try yet: Soup giraumon. In Haiti, it's a tradition to have it w/family and friends on New year's day and also on Saturdays as souper and sometimes you would even have it as a brunch after church on Sunday. I love cooking haitian food but I've never tried to make that soup I guess because it seemed complicated. The soup is made in a big pot w/lots of vegetables, some spaghetti, meat etc.. For my 1st time I think I did pretty good. See below pics. Yum!!!

Recipe:

1/2 of calabaza pumpkin cut in cubes
1-2 pds of beef stew cubes
4 potatoes cut in chunks
4 carrots cut in 1" pieces
1 onion cut in chunks
1 leek
couple strands of spaghetti
1 habenero pepper
2 celery stalks cut in 1" pieces
8 cabbage leaves
3 turnips cut in chunks
6 whole cloves
2 slices of lemon

1st clean the meat w.lemon and rinse then season w/pikliz, onions, scallions, garlic, pepper, salt, chives and let it marinate for 1 hour or more. Cook the pumpkin in 6 cups of water for 1/2 hr then puree it. In another stock pot add the meat w/1 cup of water and let it cook until soft for about 40mns. Add the pureed pumpkin to the meat and add 3 more cups of water and let it simmer for 40mns. Add the celery, carrots, turnips, leek and the cloves and cook uncovered for 20 mns. Add the pasta, hot pepper, onion, potatoes and simmer still uncovered for another 20 mns. Taste and add more salt if needed. Serve w. slice of lemon for extra flavor. Try it, it's really good and healthy.

The news is all over, a major earthquake has hit Haiti. I'm trying to stay positive and not stress about this but it's my dear country and the fact that right now a lot is unknown. It's hard to get in contact w/love ones, so people are very anxious. My prayers are w/everyone down there.

Mad Men!!!!!!!!!!

It's not odd that I'm into Mad men. Well it's about men and women in the workplace in the 1960's, great vintage clothes, interesting story and the CAST. I cannot get enough of Draper and his swag, I have to say that we (mon mari and I) were quite late to this party. We've heard such great things about this show and now, we're up to season 2 on netflix. It's just awesome. I can't wait to catch up, I believe they just wrapped season 3 so we're almost there.

This morning mon mari and I went to his mom's and had an amazing time as usual, we had a delicious breakfast followed by the openining of gifts by the tree. Afterwards went to my mom and enjoyed some awesome Haitian food :).
I didn't get my boxer nor my scarf, but I received lots of meaningful gifts and I will post next week.

Hi all, how is everyone doing? Well we're approaching the holidays and guess what? I've only bought 1gift so far :(. Although I wouldn't consider myself a procrastinator but there's no other word to describe my situation right now. Spa day

Updates. My spa experience was awesome, I went to At ease spa in NJ. I've been there before and I always get great service. Curly rods hair style

So this is my 1st hair post, expect lots more to come. I love styling my hair and Sunday is the day. I have very thick naturally curly hair and it takes me about 3 hours to wash, style and dry it. I do all the things the natural girls do, the wash & go, the twist and curl, henna once a month, co-washing.... I mean I do it all. I don't complain because I like the end results. I also straightened my hair in the cold months only. In the summer, it's big curly and fabulous.
